Why do Canadians endure minus 30 degrees?

So we can enjoy warm spring days like today and, apparently, all of this week. Sunset at 9pm, car windows down, great music in the sound system, a drink with friends on the patio...it's a beautiful thing.

VIVA SUMMER!!!

Ow!

Had minor surgery earlier this week, not a pleasant experience, but not as bad as I had expected. Can't wait to get the stitches out and shower without a plastic bag duct-taped over the bandages.

Health care in Canada is great. If you can find/see a doctor....

One final point about Belinda

If she was so unhappy with how Stephen Harper was running the Conservative Party, why didn't she sit as an independent?

For the same reason that Paul Martin can bribe MP's in order to maintain his undeserved grip on power, and that reason has nothing to do with the well-being of Canada or Canadians.

Hypocrisy unpunished

So the White House started wagging its finger at Newsweek for the unconfirmed story about a Q'uran being flushed down a toilet as part of the US military's efforts to get detainees in Gitmo to talk.

It's bad that a White House that lied about the pretext of an entire war gets all uppity about a newsmagazine that was sloppy with fact-checking.

It's worse that the American electorate doesn't care.

Good luck, Karen Hughes, you have an impossible task before you.

Poor little rich girl

So Belinda got her job at Magna thanks to her bloodlines, and somehow believed that all high positions of power should come that easy. Earning your way up is for peasants, thankyouverymuch. Her problem is that she believes her own hype and is convinced that she really really is superior to everyone else, even though she's been in politics for, what, 14 months?

Lest you think I'm bitter, consider this: if she was so unhappy with Stephen Harper, why did she need a cabinet post (and a powerful one to boot) in order to defect? What, a simple Liberal backbencher isn't good enough for your values and principles?

What makes me really bitter is that Ontario voters will return her, and Martin, to power, oblivious to the damage the Liberals are causing to our country.

The start of forever

Back home from an uneventful flight. The trip went well and everything worked "Colombian" style, which means that nothing happened according to plan, but everything did happen, somehow, at some point. More info later, I have to unpack and sort through the mail and bills.

PS: Damn Ontario Health Care Premium, screwed again!!!!
